Why Cloud Based Submission Softwares Don’t Work

In this article I wanted to shed a little light on why cloud based submission softwares just rarely work.  It seems like they always start off working so well and then over time they tend to fall apart at the seams.  So why don’t they work?

So first let me say that I am a big fan of using cloud products when I can.  They simply make sense.  I have instant access to the product on all my computers, I don’t have to download anything and all my files are automatically backed up on the cloud.  Most of the time I would always choose a cloud based service over a downloadable product…except for submission type softwares!

One of my very first softwares I developed was a cloud based service.  The service worked wonderfully at first.  Before I opened it up to the general public I had roughly 500 people join the software’s early beta release to test its functionality.  Nearly every single one of those 500 people loved the software.  The results were really quite astounding.  In fact the software worked so well that many large affiliates hopped on the bandwagon promoting the product.  At the time I had no idea this success would be its achilles heel.  After about a years growth the software really started to loose its effectiveness and was riddled with problems.  So let’s examine what happened and why cloud based submission softwares don’t work.  To best explain this point I have filmed the video below.

I want to extend this warning to everyone who reads this blog post.  Be weary of any submission type software that is done 100% over a web browser, via the cloud.  Many software’s rely solely on the cloud and that is just one of the reasons why Ping Kaching is so powerful is that it is downloadable.  It runs on the Adobe Air platform so it runs on all machine types and all information is saved over the cloud.  So the software truly is the perfect blend.

    WoW
It makes a lot of sense, I was almost certain there was a downside to web browser submission. It seems just way too good to be true.

Thanks. That explained a complex process in clear terms. I didn’t know the risks before.
